Soul on Fire
Mater Media was part of the team that raised funds for a major motion picture about the life of world renowned burn survivor and speaker, John O'Leary.
Soul on Fire is based on John’s personal life story of being burned on 100% of his body at the age of nine, and given a one percent chance of surviving. Through the grace of God, medical miracle treatments, and encouragement from the legendary St. Louis sportscaster Jack Buck and so many others, John not only survived, but has thrived.
John is a loving husband, a devoted father, and an incredible international speaker and author who has inspired more than 2 million people around the world.
John’s story, as written by top Hollywood screenwriter Gregory Poirier, is a true account of faith, hope, resilience, family values, humor, and inspiration. All-star cast includes William H. Macey, John Corbett, Joel Courtney, Masey McLain, and DeVon Franklin. Directed by Sean McNamara (Soul Surfer, A Wing and a Prayer). Produced by J. Todd Harris (more than 50 films).
Soul on Fire was a significant success, peaking as the #5 movie in the U.S. during its opening weekend. The film later found success on streaming, reaching the #2 spot on Netflix in January 2026.
Cabrini
Mater Media was delighted to help promote the powerful film Cabrini, a magnificent biographical drama from the director of Sound of Freedom. The film tells the remarkable story of Francesca Cabrini, later canonized as St. Frances Xavier Cabrini, one of the most influential and courageous figures of the early twentieth century.
Arriving in New York City in 1889, the Italian immigrant is met with the harsh realities of the Five Points slums—disease, crime, and countless orphaned children living in extreme poverty. Undeterred by poor health, limited English, and widespread prejudice, Cabrini boldly challenges government leaders, church authorities, and a skeptical public as she works tirelessly to secure housing, healthcare, and dignity for society’s most vulnerable.
Through relentless determination, entrepreneurial vision, and deep compassion, Cabrini builds an extraordinary network of care that transforms lives and creates a legacy of hope that continues to inspire the world today.
The story of this remarkable woman is a powerful reminder that even in difficult times, faith, courage, and perseverance can change the course of history.
